ABA Records the Tool Checks
This ABA validator checks one Westpac Corporate Online batch against its documented Australian Direct Entry format. It reads the type 0 header, type 1 payment records and type 7 trailer. Each record must contain 120 characters.
The checks follow Westpac’s Direct Entry file specification. They cover field positions, padding, permitted characters, required values and control totals. The supported profile uses WBC in the header and transaction code 13 for debits or 50 to 57 for credits.
BSB checks cover the six-digit format and hyphen. Account checks cover the documented characters and padding. A correctly shaped account can still belong to the wrong beneficiary. Confirm beneficiary details independently before authorising payment.
Compare File Totals With Payment Records
The tool adds detail amounts as integer cents, counts every type 1 record and compares those figures with the trailer. The net total is the unsigned difference between credits and debits. A balancing transaction counts as a detail record.
The fictional example contains credits of $1,250.00 and $750.25. Its credit and net totals are $2,000.25, its debit total is $0.00 and its detail count is two. Choose Load example to inspect those results.
If that example’s trailer declares $2,000.00 in its credit total, the finding identifies record 4, positions 31-40. Correct the batch export settings or source payments, then export again. Editing the trailer alone can conceal the underlying error.
If record 3 has a BSB without its hyphen, the finding identifies positions 2-8. Correct that beneficiary’s bank details in the source system. A 119-character record also fails the record-length check, even when its visible text looks complete.
Fix the Export Before Bank Upload
Keep the original file unchanged. Correct the source data, export a new file and rerun the check before using the bank’s own upload checks. The tool never repairs amounts or generates a replacement payment file.
Your chosen file and pasted text stay in browser memory. Nothing is uploaded or saved in browser storage. Clear file, navigation and restored history clear the input and results.
A pass covers the supported format checks. Bank acceptance, account ownership, available funds and payment completion each require separate confirmation. User-ID allocation, BSB existence, bank-specific settings and processing cut-offs are outside this local check.
