From invite to return, step by step
Seven steps, one pass. The client never gets a second form to fill the gaps in the first, and nobody in your practice types their details twice.
1. You send a private link
Create the intake from your dashboard with the client’s name and email address. Tax Genie issues a private link that only that client uses. Links last 30 days, and you can issue a fresh one without losing anything the client has already entered.
2. The form adapts to the client
The client declares their situation and the form follows it. A spouse who will also use your services gets a full set of their own fields. A trust asks whether the trustee is an individual or a company, and opens the right block either way. When one entity is done, the form asks whether there’s another, and keeps going until the client says no.
3. Mistakes are caught as the client types
ABNs, ACNs and TFNs are checked as the client types, so a swapped digit is caught on the spot, not weeks later. A valid ABN is confirmed against the Australian Business Register.
4. Help is there when they need it
The confusing questions are the same every time: which trustee arrangement they actually have, which reporting frequency applies, where to find a director ID. Each of those has guidance attached, closed by default. A client who knows the answer never sees it.
5. Tax Genie checks every answer and chases the fixes
After submission every answer is reviewed for the mistakes clients usually make: a trustee type that doesn’t match the deed, a reporting frequency that can’t be right, a director ID left blank. The client gets one email naming each fix. You’re copied in, not doing the chasing.
6. The engagement letter writes itself
Open the file and generate the engagement letter. Every person and entity from the form is already in it. Review it and send it for signature.
7. The data lands in your tax software
Client, entity and contact details go straight into your tax software. The return starts with the data already there.
Works with HandiTax, Xero, QuickBooks and more.
What arrives on your side
A dashboard of every client and where they’re up to, so the ones you’re waiting on stand out. A checked file with every section, every uploaded document, and the fixes Tax Genie already chased. The engagement letter when you’re ready to send it, and the data already in your tax software when you’re ready to start the return.
