If TaxDome feels like more system than you need, compare its all-in-one portal and pricing with Tax Genie’s guided client form for Australian practices.

Tax Genie vs TaxDome comes down to whether you want checked Australian client onboarding or a broader practice management suite. Choose Tax Genie to keep your existing practice management. Choose TaxDome when you want to move workflow and billing into the client portal.

Which One Fits Your Practice

Tax Genie suits practices that want complete client details without moving their whole practice to another system. One request collects entity details, identity verification and engagement letters signed online. Rules and AI check the answers, then Tax Genie sends fixable mistakes back to the client. Automatic email and SMS reminders chase anything outstanding.

Approved details go into your tax software and Xero Practice Manager after a field-by-field review. That saves significant time on checking forms, chasing clients and typing details again. Tax Genie also handles ongoing client requests and annual re-engagement. Its separate Division 7A loan management job keeps schedules and agreements with the loan record.

Choose TaxDome when the bigger change is what you need. Its Australian product pages describe workflow, client records, a portal, organisers, document management and billing in the same suite. It suits a practice ready to bring those jobs together and train staff to work there.

The deciding factor is replacing practice management or adding checked onboarding beside it. The Tax Genie comparisons explain where other tools fit.

An All-In-One Suite Against a Focused Onboarding Tool

A suite puts more of the client relationship in one place. Staff can work from one client record, clients return to one portal login and the practice pays one subscription for those included jobs. The gain is strongest when several separate tools need replacing.

The cost of that change includes moving records and retraining staff. Existing job stages must become the new system’s stages. Client communications, document folders and responsibility for unfinished work also need a clear changeover.

TaxDome’s organisers are customisable. Its Australian page expressly discusses TFNs, so treating every organiser as a US-only form would be wrong. Budget time to adapt any imported template to your Australian entity questions and engagement terms. A template built for another jurisdiction needs the relevant questions rewritten.

Changing practice management during lodgment season adds avoidable pressure to work already underway. Schedule a broad move for a quieter period. If your current practice management works, Tax Genie lets you improve client collection and checking without undertaking that migration. The practice management software guide covers the wider replacement decision.

Clients return to their TaxDome portal account for documents and communication. Clients can also complete organisers in its mobile app. Its published organiser features include conditional questions, saved progress and prefilled answers for returning clients.

A Tax Genie request starts with a private link, with no account to create before completing the form. Clients see the questions for their entity. ABN, ACN and TFN format checks catch mistakes as they type, and a valid ABN is checked against the Australian Business Register.

After the form arrives, Tax Genie checks register matches and missing documents, then AI reviews the answers for common mistakes. Every TFN is removed before AI review. A correction request reopens only the affected sections, so a client can fix an answer without completing the whole form again.

Tax Genie also has a returning-client portal. Clients sign in with a code sent to their mobile, download documents and answer later requests. TaxDome’s broader role includes keeping invoicing and staff workflow beside ongoing document requests and messaging. Choose between those broader practice jobs and Tax Genie’s collection, checking and handover jobs, rather than treating either product as a one-use form.

Using TaxDome in Australia

TaxDome has an Australian website, subscriptions in dollars and Australian wording on its organiser page. Its help centre describes chat support from the web portal and mobile app, plus email support.

TaxDome lists QuickBooks Online, Stripe and Zapier connections. A connection to billing or automation is different from sending checked client details into Australian tax software. Tax Genie sends approved details to your tax software, including HandiTax, Xero and QuickBooks. It also updates Xero Practice Manager records after staff review.

For entity collection, TaxDome supports custom fields and reusable organiser templates. Its Australian organiser page names TFN prefill. Build your Australian form around the people involved in each entity, including trustee type and director details where relevant. TFN format checks and identity verification answer different questions: a correctly formatted number does not establish who supplied it.

Hosting and TFN Handling

TaxDome’s security policy says workspace data is stored in the AWS region selected when the workspace is provisioned. It describes TLS encryption in transit and AES-256 encryption at rest. Its privacy policy allows information to be transferred, processed or accessed in the US, EU or other provider locations. Those statements do not establish Australian-only storage.

The OAIC’s TFN guidance applies whichever tool your practice uses. Collect TFNs only with lawful authority and the required collection notice. Explain the purpose, the authorising law and the consequences of declining to quote one. Refusal to provide a TFN is not an offence.

Your practice must take reasonable steps to prevent loss, misuse and unauthorised access or disclosure. Limit access to staff who need it. Set retention and secure destruction arrangements for information that is no longer lawfully required or necessary.

Tax Genie encrypts TFNs before storage, masks them in the dashboard and logs every staff reveal. They stay out of emails, exports, generated documents and AI review. TaxDome’s published encryption safeguards describe general customer-data protection. Treat those as general safeguards when comparing them with Tax Genie’s specific TFN handling. The security page explains Tax Genie’s approach.

TaxDome Pricing and How Tax Genie is Quoted

TaxDome pricing is seat-based, so staff numbers affect the subscription cost. Its Australian pricing page lists one-, two- and three-year terms billed upfront, with monthly options available through a demo enquiry. TaxDome says GST does not apply to Australian subscriptions.

For a hypothetical three-person practice needing three seats, the annual equivalent is three times the selected per-seat annual rate. A prepaid multi-year term also changes the amount committed upfront. Add migration and staff training to the decision even where those costs are your own time.

Tax Genie has no published subscription amount. We quote it on request, with generous usage included. For a practice keeping its existing practice management, compare the quote with the cost of the onboarding jobs you want to replace. Paying for a broader suite makes sense when your practice will use its broader jobs.

Adding One to the Other, or Moving Off TaxDome

A practice already using TaxDome can keep it for workflow and billing while using Tax Genie for new-client collection and checking. Send the Tax Genie request first. After corrections and staff approval, the checked details go into your tax software and the signed documents go to your chosen filing destination.

Give staff one clear owner for each next step. Keep the TaxDome client record consistent with the approved details through your existing record-update procedure. This arrangement depends on a defined handover, without assuming a direct connection between the two products.

If you leave TaxDome, export the client records and completed organiser answers before access ends. Its help centre documents CSV exports for accounts, contacts and completed organisers. It also describes copying document folders from TaxDome Drive to local storage.

Preserve signed documents with their signing records. Check that the exported answers, files and client relationships remain usable in the destination before retiring the old system. A CSV of organiser answers and a folder of documents serve different purposes, so keep both.

For a broader replacement, the TaxDome alternatives page separates tools by the job you need to replace. If staff workflow is the deciding job, the Karbon and TaxDome comparison addresses that choice. Keep the migration scope tied to the work your practice actually wants to move.
